How They Came to Us

Maryann and Danielle have known each other forever so when Maryann asked Danielle for some advice on getting an agent, Danielle welcomed the opportunity to catch up over coffee. And then Maryann sent the text for Téo’s Tutu and Danielle fell in love with the story in a way she never had with any picture book before. She told Maryann they absolutely needed to work together and the rest is history! Téo’s Tutu sold at auction and is set for publication in 2021.

Maryann Jacob Macias received her MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults from Pine Manor College’s Solstice Low-Residency Program. She has spent the past two decades working with nonprofits dedicated to social justice. Currently, she is a senior director at National Crittenton, an organization that catalyzes social and systems change for girls and gender-expansive young people impacted by chronic adversity, violence, and injustice. She and her spouse are raising two delightful humans and a beloved furbaby in New York.
