BEA Week

Status: It’s pouring rain in New York too. Is there anywhere where it’s not raining?

What’s Playing on the XM or iPod right now? WHATAYA WANT FROM ME by Adam Lambert

Dashing off in the next hour to head to Javits Center. It’s going to be a crazy week but I’ll try and report from the floor. I’m armed with my camera.

And some great news to kick it off. Kirkus lists the Top 26 Galleys to grab at the Fair and guess who is on it?

Heck yes!

In a totally unscientific sampling, I gave an ARC of this title to my 17 year old niece who loved it. She cajoled my 14 year old reluctant reader nephew to read it. He spent an entire day, while on spring break, away from playing his favorite video game because he couldn’t stop reading it.

There have only been two other books that did the same for him. ENDER’S GAME and the HUNGER GAMES trilogy.

This is how I know Marie and I might be on to something with this LEGEND trilogy so if you are at BEA, you might want to hit Marie’s signing on Wed. May 25 at 3 pm at Penguin’s booth #3252.

The last NLA book to be chosen as a top galley at BEA was SOULLESS by Gail Carriger.

This bodes well for us!

Oh man, reading the description of this book gave me chills. Can’t wait to hear the scuttlebutt from the BEA floor!

I can’t wait to read LEGEND. I only wish I could come to BEA to snag an arc. Oh well, I’ll settle for a finished copy when it’s released 😉

That is some pretty special company for a book to be keeping! Putting it in the same sentence as ENDER’S GAME, no matter the context, is certainly something that garners attention.

And yes, there is somewhere it’s not raining at the moment. Seattle!

I’m slightly outraged! I searched and found this book on Amazon and it doesn’t come out until NOVEMBER? REALLY? 🙂

This just means that you must hold and ARC contest on your blog, yes? YES? 🙂

My husband wandered home from one of his random library visits last week with none other than “Soulless” by Gail Carringer. I looked at it and said, “Hey! That’s one of Kristin’s books.”

    Not bad from Canberra, Australia!

Ender’s Game is the most amazing sci-fi of modern times, IMO. I love Old Man’s War and the Risen Empire books, too, but nothing really comes close to Ender’s Game (and I say that as a person who doesn’t much like the author’s viewpoints).

Putting Legend in the same category as Ender’s Game and the Hunger Games makes me add it to my to-read list! It sounds great. I already checked my library for it before I realized it’s not out until November!

I was at BEA today and happened to be wandering by Penguin’s booth when they were doing the Legend galley giveaway! Hooray! Only on Chapter 2 so far and loving it.
